🚥 Signal Sync Guide
Signal Sync hands you the only traffic light in Mintford: four queues, one junction, and a signal box that answers to nobody but you. Flip the lights, keep everyone moving, and never let two directions meet in the middle. It is the district where a half-second decision is the whole game.
| Traffic Controller rank | Best score |
|---|---|
| 🚸 Trainee Controller | 300 |
| 🚸 Signal Operator | 1,200 |
| 🚸 Intersection Master | 3,500 |
How the game works
Cars spawn on four approaches and drive toward the junction. The green direction rolls through; the red direction queues at its stop line. Tap the signal box (or press Space) to switch which direction has green — with a short yellow phase between states where nobody moves. Every car that clears the junction is +10 through-put. Traffic spawns faster the longer your shift runs.
The run ends the moment cars from crossing directions are inside the junction at the same time. One crash, shift over — your through-put goes to the leaderboard.
Controls
Desktop: click anywhere on the junction, click the Flip Signal button, or press Space. Mobile: tap the junction. One input, used at exactly the right moment.
Scoring and the Traffic Controller career
Through-put is cars cleared × 10, and career tiers are 300 (Trainee Controller), 1,200 (Signal Operator) and 3,500 (Intersection Master). The spawn rate ramps forever, so your score is effectively 'how long can you stay calm while the city speeds up around you'.
Beginner mistakes
- Flipping while the junction is occupied. The yellow phase protects you from bad flips — but only if you wait for it. Green-then-immediately-flip while cars are still crossing is the classic crash.
- Running a green direction to zero. Flip when the green queue is nearly empty, not after it drains; idle green time is throughput you burned.
- Only watching the visible queue. The danger queue is usually the one spawning just off-screen.
- Panic double-flipping. Two flips in a row through yellow means both directions sat still. One good decision per wave beats three nervous ones.
Advanced strategy
- Flip on the empty, not the full. Switch the moment the green direction has no cars between the stop line and the junction — those seconds of overlap are where crashes live.
- Learn the yellow window. The transition is fixed-length; counting it lets you predict exactly when the new green actually starts.
- Favour the busier axis. When both queues are long, give green to the direction that has been waiting longer — equalising pressure prevents the off-screen overflow that ends shifts.
- Ride the spawn waves. Traffic comes in surges. Hold one direction through a lull and save your flips for when both queues are genuinely loaded.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the yellow light do?
It's a short all-red pause between flips. Cars already inside the junction keep moving; nobody new enters. Use it as a safety buffer, not a delay to fight.
Can I crash during yellow?
Only from cars already committed inside the junction. New red-light entries stop at the line, so the yellow phase is the safe part of every flip.
How do I score past 1,200?
Flip early, watch both stop lines, and never let a direction sit green with an empty queue. Most Signal Operators die of impatience, not traffic.
Does spawn rate ever reset?
No — it ramps for the whole shift. That's what makes Intersection Master (3,500) a reflex milestone rather than a logic one.
